The mission of our organization is to operate as a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization that invests in community safety by
supporting the DeForest Police Department with resources to
augment its services to those who live, work, and visit DeForest.
Dreamed up in 2022 and became a reality in 2023. Our goal is to support those who are guardians of our community.
We are independent of the police department but work closely with Chief James Olson to assist in soliciting funding for projects. The first project
that was requested by the department is to provide funding for one K-9 team.
The estimated cost of funding the inaugural K-9 team is approximately $100,000. This is not funded by the general-purpose tax dollars in the
budget. Donations will be designated to the purchase of a K-9 dog, a new dedicated police car, specialized K-9 equipment inside the police car,
training, and specialized equipment and supplies necessary to support the program.
The breed of the dog and specialized capabilities are not completely finalized. Some of the areas of specialization considered are handler protection, narcotics detection, tracking, and article searching. The chief wants the dog to have a good demeanor to promote positive community
interactions as well.
